I have a macbookpro and an imac both new or under a year old how do i work offline?

As in without an internet connection?

Look to the top-right corner of the screen and click on the 'wave-like' icon (the Airport icon).
Press Turn Airport Off.

Now you're working offline.

(Press Turn Airport On again to re-switch it on)
