A message will pop up saying that you can't have the iPod synched to more than one library, and would you like to synch to the new one. If you click "yes," your music will be deleted. See if you can set up a shared library between the two computers and copy your music over.

Yeah, but if you don't want it to delete the songs of your iPod, (like, if you want to save them) search for iPod Access and follow the steps there.

Windows:

Mac: http://purchase.cnet.com/iPod-Access/3000-18545_4-10182021.html

Linux: HAH, WHO USES LINUX?!

It won't if you prevent it from syncing. As someone said earlier, you'll get a pop up saying something similar to "you cannot sync your ipod with more than one itunes library. Do you want to erase the contents of your ipod and replace them with the contents of the itunes library?" Just say no. Also, watch the status thing at the top of itunes. Sometimes it starts syncing before you tell it to. If it is syncing be sure to cancel it before your ipod gets erased

It won't be a problem if you use AVCWare iPod to iPod/Computer/iTunes Transfer.
It automatically transfers your iPod and iPhone music, video, playlist, photos to computer and iTunes. Backup all your music and video in a couple of clicks. Really makes music and videos sharing pretty simple and enjoyable. Wish this can help and good luck.

I think its step by step guide is most helpful.

Yes, if you directly click sync, it will erase all music on the iPod and replace with the content of your iTunes library.
But here is a solution. All you need is to get all existing music/videos from the iPod onto your computer and iTunes. Simply use this popular program called Tansee iPod Transfer
http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tansee-iPod-Transfer.htm
The whole process is easy and safe.

With just a few simple clicks, it will help you copy all videos/songs from iPod back to your selected folder on your computer, and then you can easily add those songs back to iTunes. See detailed guide.
More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on the iPod. And all song names are preserved.

In this case, all songs/videos (both new and old) are on your iTunes library that you can syn with whenever you wish to without deleting any files.
Here is step-by-step guide on the whole process:
http://gutensoft.com/Guide/How-to-transfer-songs-and-videos-from-ipod-to-computer.htm

Best luck!
