Should I spend the money on a mac or go cheaper?

I have the money but i also need money for college. should i just get a 500 dollar or cheaper one from bestbuy, or go big with a mac pro?

I suggest you buy a PC. if you need it for school, your college is more likely to be set up with PC's, and PC's are more compatable with things you find online. Plus they are 50 to 75% cheaper, for the same power.

If you really need the money, don't spend it.
If you're worried about compatibility, don't be... Macs are very compatible with Windows networks and files (they can open almost anything created on Microsoft Office programs.)
I splurged on a Macbook Pro for college. I don't regret it in the slightest.

i would suggest getting a mac if you are fimiliar with using them
macs are smaller and lighter to use and carry around
but if you havent used them alot in the past then i wouldnt suggest it because you dont want to be sitting there during class one day and you need to do something and your not sure how to on your mac so you end up wasting time trying to figure it out

that guy is wrong, mac specs are lower for the price, but the OS is much better at handling recources, they are about equal in spec to price. Get the mac, I got my iMac and I love it. There isnt a learning curve to macs at all, my grandfather used Windows 95 forever, we went to the Apple store, within seconds, hes watching youtube videos. Its really that easy to learn mac. Macs have better battery life than ANY below $1500 PC. 10 hours on mac, 4 hours pc? wtf???
Macs are light
Apple makes the best keyboards and trackpad anywhere.
